The client is a premier engineering services provider based in California and operating in the AEC sector.

Client's Requirements

The client was looking for MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) design and drafting services for a 10,000 square foot library. The wanted us to -

• Design and draft the air distribution system
• Design the chilled water pipe
• Conceptualize and draft the required ductwork
• Plan the routing of the ductwork based on the seating arrangements

Client's Challenges

There were several challenges, including -

• The massive size of the library was the biggest challenge. We needed to maintain the visual aesthetics of the place, plan for the different uses of each space, and consider the seating arrangements when drafting the various MEP components.
• The client required that this large-scale project be completed in 3 weeks' time, which was challenging.
• There was a time-zone challenge since the client was based in California. We were careful to communicate with the client at mutually acceptable times and through email to complete this task on time.

FWS' Solution

We provided high-quality deliverables by following this process -

• We obtained AutoCAD drawings and further information in the PDF format from the client.
• We then came up with a robust plan that had important milestones to ensure that the project would be completed on time.
• Team members were chosen and assigned responsibilities according to their skillset. These included a draftsman, an MEP designer, and a QC analyst.
• We used the AutoCAD2021 software to create a pipe routing blueprint. We also used the McQuay PipeSizer and McQuay DuctSizer software to draft the MEP components.
• The completed designs were sent to the client for review and then the client's feedback was incorporated in the final designs and plans.
