Flatworld Solutions Provided 3D Modeling Services to a US-based Client

The Customer

The client we served is a top US-based cultural asset management and consulting firm that provides advice, expertise, and museum planning services to governments, institutions, corporations, foundations and individuals through business lines related to the expansion of art, culture, and museums.

Client's Requirement

The client required 3D modeling of specific monuments/buildings in order to enable 3D printing of the structures. The 3D models were to be generated from drawings, sketches, pictures, pdf, etc. The client also wanted the pricing to be $8000 per month for the two dedicated resources working on the project.

Client's Challenges

The client wanted 12 models per month to be delivered for a period of 6 months. High level of detailing and precision was required, and the output needed to be an enclosed surface.

FWS' Solution

The client initially wanted the output in the Rhinoceros format, but we suggested the .obg format, which can be easily used in 3D printing. The client agreed and we assigned two professionals to perform the 3D modeling to a very high-quality level. Software used for providing the 3D modeling services was AutoCAD, SketchUp, and 3DX MAX.

Our Process

We followed the following process for delivery of our 3D modeling services -

1. We received the input files and looked for ambiguity and areas where more information was needed.
2. Once all the information was available, we decided on the timeline.
3. We then started working to create the 3D Model.
4. Internal QC was done before submission.
5. We submitted the files to the client for approval.
6. Once they checked the compatibility for 3D printing, they got back to us if they found any issue. When all looked good, they set the model in place for production.

The Results

We were able to successfully provide accurate and high-quality 3D models of the structures well within the stipulated time and budget, much to the client's satisfaction.
