3D Modeling and Drafting for a European Lighting Product & Installation Company

The Client

Flatworld Solutions was contacted by a lighting product and installation company in Europe. The company offered floodlighting services for land and water, used exclusively in the high security world. They were looking for a partner that could create 3D models of the equipment to which the lighting solutions would be installed.

The Problems

The client had a special request. They needed 1:1 scale solid models in low poly which requiring specific expertise. Flatworld Solutions would need to create CAD models that were very close to the actual representation of the area. The drawings were also confidential, so the team would need to limit access to the blueprints and ensure secure handoff practices.

This type of project also typically has a small learning curve to adapt to the client's needs, but in this case the project had a short deadline, decreasing the time Flatworld Solutions had available to understand the client's requirements.

The Solutions

Flatworld Solutions already has a secure infrastructure to send information through secure FTPs. The team made every effort to maintain confidentiality for the client. Flatworld Solutions brought on additional resources to help meet the deadlines, and designated a team to work exclusively on this project and to work/rework the models based on the client feedback.

Flatworld Solutions utilized advanced software, including 3DSMax, Adobe Photoshop, and AutoCAD to create the 3D models.

The Results

Flatworld Solutions was able to create actual size models that ensured an accurate representation of the area, and easier simulation of lighting effects. The client benefitted from significant cost savings, high security, and our success at turning imperfect drawings into full-fledged, effective models. The company has since become a long-term client.
