Wedding Video Editing for an Australian Client

The Client

Flatworld Solutions was contacted by a well-known wedding photography and wedding videography service based in Australia. Because of their popularity, the client had found themselves booked with many videography shoots, and therefore needed high-quality video editing services in order to ensure they could focus on shooting future videos.

The client was looking for a partner that could help them clear the large backlog of wedding videos they had amassed during their busy schedule. They needed a team which could handle the artistry of wedding video editing, and had the technical knowledge to do so cleanly and efficiently. They also required two videos for each of their wedding shoots - one full video, and another one containing highlights from the wedding usually 10 minutes in length.

The Challenge

During the course of the project, our video editors were faced with several challenges. The first was dealing with the exceptionally large file sizes. The videos were FHD quality, and often their sizes varied from 300-400 GB. Downloading the files through our secure FTP would prove challenging, even with the team's advanced technology.

Weddings are also very personal events, and the team was required to work with the client and review each and every wedding video in order to determine which highlights and narratives would be best suited to the final video.

The Solution

3 expert resources were assigned to the task by Flatworld. Despite the hindrance of the download speeds, the team started on the project immediately, and provided the client with a sample for quality. The client was satisfied with the results, and the project continued to move forward. The team at Flatworld Solutions was able to complete and edit approximately 10 to 15 videos per month at the current download speed, but while working with the client and discussing issues with speed, examined the idea of using a remote server to gain access to the videos.

This proved to be the ideal solution, as the access became much quicker, and the team was able to complete between 20 and 25 videos per month. The process to create the professionally edited videos included:

• Removing Unnecessary Clips
• Prioritizing Based on Importance
• Syncing the Videos to Music
• Sending to Client for Review
• Incorporating Any Modifications

Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro were both used to edit and provide the finishing touches to the videos.

The Results

The initial project consisted of only 5 videos, but the client was satisfied throughout and had Flatworld Solutions complete the remaining videos. The client was able to clear their entire backlog of wedding videos, which allowed them to free up time to take new projects. Flatworld Solutions exceeded the benchmark provided by the client with a 96% accuracy rate. Since then, the client continues to send Flatworld Solutions wedding video editing work of as many as 15 to 20 wedding videos each month.
